The Acolyte Ministry supports the Presider at weekend Masses whenever a deacon isn’t present, by assisting in non-diaconal functions, such as helping to prepare the altar for the celebration of the Eucharist. The Acolyte may also be called on to help with some logistical functions like opening or closing the building or turning on/off the sound system. This ministry allows you to serve at Mass in a special, reverent capacity and is open to men and women parishioners over the age of 18. Time commitment includes arriving 30 minutes before Mass begins and staying after Mass to make sure that everything has been put away and the building secured. When serving as an Acolyte, you will not serve in a second capacity at that Mass (e.g., usher, lector, or Eucharistic Minister).
