In this ministry, which is open to confirmed Catholics, Eucharistic Ministers (officially known to the Church as "Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion") have the privilege and responsibility to assist with the distribution of Holy Communion at Mass. They are also responsible for assuring that all sacred vessels and offertory gifts are properly prepared and set up prior to Mass and for proper cleaning of those vessels after Mass.
After appropriate instruction relevant to this ministry, Eucharistic Ministers are normally scheduled to serve two weekends per month at a Mass time of their own choosing. Eucharistic Ministers are asked to arrive 15 minutes before Mass starts. Clean-up takes about 10 minutes.
