The Altar Server Ministry is comprised of young parishioners from Grade 5 through High School. Training sessions are “on the job” --just come to Mass.
Altar Servers play an important role in the Parish’s weekly Masses. The Altar Servers assist the Priest during the liturgy by performing minor duties such as preparing the altar, leading the procession carrying the cross, and assisting the Priest at the chair and at the altar.
Altar Servers also have the opportunity to participate in the parish’s special liturgies which include our annual Confirmation Mass with the Bishop, First Eucharist celebrations, and our Holy Week Services.
You should arrive about 15 minutes before Mass starts to get ready to serve. There are no additional duties after Mass.
When asked how they felt about being a member of the ministry, one of the children responded:
“I FEEL LIKE I AM AN IMPORTANT PART OF THE MASS AND I AM GIVING MY GIFTS AND TALENTS TO GOD”.
