Samaritans
-
Samaritans is an umbrella ministry under which Resurrection Parish social service activities roll up. We provide assistance in a variety of ways to those in our parish and extended community who are in need, as well as providing opportunities for people of all ages to help address those needs.
Annual events include a springtime Baby Shower for organizations working with mothers/caregivers and babies in need, a Back-to-School Supplies collection in August for students served by local agencies, a Frozen Turkey and Thanksgiving Food Drive in November and a Christmas Giving Tree collection. We also coordinate our Parish’s participation in the annual Diocesan Food Drive to replenish Catholic Charities’ food pantries in the Diocese ahead of the summer months. Other one-off collection drives for special circumstances (i.e a family affected by a fire) may be coordinated at times
“In working with the Samaritans, I feel that I receive more than I give. It is always inspiring because not only are you helping others, but you gain so much by working with people who truly match their faith with good works.” - Kim
